March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

The lottery offers fun games to raise money for education in North Carolina and, at the same time, helps players keep their play healthy and fun.

With that goal in mind, each March, we partner with the National Council on Problem Gambling to raise awareness of the resources available to support someone who might show signs of problem gambling.

If you enjoy playing the lottery, what are the warning signs that it could be time for a break?

  • “Chasing” losses and trying to break even
  • Going without basic needs to buy lottery tickets
  • A preoccupation with lottery games
  • A need for more money to play lottery games more frequently
  • Restlessness or irritability when you try to stop playing.

Most people enjoy lottery games without an issue. If playing the lottery ever starts to feel like more than a game, with only a click or a text, you can access free and confidential help 24/7

Increased lottery player costs on multiple draw games, also including $30 to $50 scratch off game tickets, $30 per spin digital instant games, extra game features at extra costs like Fireball, Powerplay, etc.  An increase in public advertising across all media on TV, radio, internet, billboards etc.  "Random number generators" with increased Artificial Intelligence to give Lotteries undeniable control over who wins and who doesn't.  All the while our nation spins out of control from corruption in the name of money on multiple levels.  And you folks promote a  "Problem Gambling Awareness Month" PR campaign as a form of deflection and plausible deniability for your own gain.  If held accountable for your actions, you would claim it was for the betterment of all, "games of fun in the name of charity".  That statement is laughable at best and societal destruction at worst.

Problem gambling is also when a country is on the verge of collapse and allows gambling to run rampant with corruption in order to keep a false sense of hope with the people. You'll have a larger volume of both winning and non-winning tickets in proportion with the odds. That has no effect on the likelihood of a particular ticket winning or not winning a prize, whether it be in a big city or a small town. It has to be that way in order for the lottery to be fair to everyone.
