Ulysses Jefferys of Burlington took a chance on a $30 scratch-off and won a $100,000 top prize.
Jefferys bought his lucky $100,000 Cash Payday ticket from the Harris Teeter on South Church Street in Burlington.
He arrived at lottery headquarters to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.
The $100,000 Cash Payday game debuted in March with 80 $100,000 top prizes. Seventy-one $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
