Wake County man pockets $100,000 top prize

Ayman Abu-Hammad of Cary took a chance on a $30 scratch-off and won a $100,000 top prize.

Abu-Hammad bought his lucky $100,000 Cash Payday ticket from the Exxon on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh.

He arrived at lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.

The $100,000 Cash Payday game debuted in March with 80 $100,000 top prizes. Seventy $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

I personally think it was a wonderful marketing strategy to quit releasing the winners names. I am not seeing constant repeat of winner names. Once you start to win it is A lifetime commitment to continue to win.

I noticed a while back you quit showing what few winners that are out there,why is that because there are not any at all in this poor mans tax gimmick you have going on or you just want to make sure all winners are in wake county or surrounding wake county and you dont want anyone to know?I don't know if anyone at all regulates you shady characters but someone needs to look into your deceitful practices.NC Lottery

Me too, Angela a,,,I got 20x 4 times and the highest was 2 buck...the only time top prizes are 85% Charlotte Raleigh and Wilmington as we keep seeing...corporate offices towns,,I researched it and I'm right

@NCEL Please pass this along to the printer of scratch off's...Don't ever come back out with the multiple the CASH tickets if you all are going to have them with a dollar prize. I purchased a 20x ticket and for the first time ever I got the 20x and the prize was $1 what a joke and that is not a good idea to name a game and get the highest multiplier and ticket don't even play music! Players don't like to be teased like that. I would have rather had a matching number than a 20x!
