Rahsaan Ivey of Charlotte had a strong reaction Sunday when a $30 scratch-off purchase won him a $100,000 top prize.
“I got some chills in the body,” he recalled.
Ivey bought his lucky $100,000 Cash Payday ticket from the Harris Teeter on University City Boulevard in Charlotte.
“I almost never go in that store too,” Ivey said.
He arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.
“It gives you a good feeling on the inside,” Ivey said. “It feels great.”
He plans to use his winnings to donate to his church and share some with his family.
The $100,000 Cash Payday game debuted in March with 80 $100,000 top prizes. Seventy-four $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
