Todd Gloy of Franklin kept staring at his $5 scratch-off on Thursday after he uncovered a $150,000 top prize.
“I just looked at it for like 10 minutes because I figured I was looking at it wrong,” he recalled. “I was like, ‘There’s no way.’”
Gloy bought his lucky LOTERIA Fiesta ticket from the Fastop Market on Georgia Road in Franklin.
“I am still freaking out about it,” Gloy laughed.
He arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim his prize and after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $108,016.
Gloy plans to use his winnings to pay bills, do work on his driveway, and possibly travel to Europe to attend a Liverpool soccer match.
The LOTERIA Fiesta game debuted in July with six $150,000 top prizes. Two $150,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
Macon County has received state grants totaling $62 million from monies raised by the lottery to help build a new high school. For details on other ways money raised by the lottery made a difference in Macon County, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
