Twelve lucky winners had a memorable day at the Charlotte Motor Speedway when they got to compete in the Ultimate Dash event on Thursday.
The winners entered their Ultimate Dash scratch-offs in a second-chance drawing for the chance to compete in the event. Participants had 90 seconds to race through a warehouse at the speedway collecting as much merchandise as possible.
Corliss Newkirk of Spring Hope, one of the 12 participants in the event, said she had a blast competing in the Ultimate Dash.
“It was an experience unlike anything I’ve ever had before,” she said. “It was so fun.”
Newkirk said she owes it all to taking a second chance with her lottery ticket.
“I’m going to tell everybody I know to play the second chance now,” she laughed.
One lucky winner, Walter Thiet of Concord, got the chance to spin a big prize wheel on the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway and won a prize of $160,000.
“My family kept telling me I was going to win,” he said after his big spin. “Holy smokers.”
Thiet said he will never forget the feeling of winning his big prize.
“I’m telling you this is the best time I have ever had,” he said.
