Mega Millions and Powerball offer over half a billion dollars in jackpots

Mega Millions and Powerball are both heating up as the two jackpots combine for over half a billion dollars.

A winner in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing would have the choice of taking home the $368 million jackpot as an annuity or $163.6 million in cash.

A winner in Saturday’s Powerball drawing would have the choice of taking home the $212 million jackpot as an annuity or $94.7 million in cash.

Even though both jackpots are still on a roll, players are taking home lots of other prizes playing Mega Millions and Powerball. Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing produced over 7,400 winning tickets in North Carolina. Wednesday’s Powerball drawing saw over 12,500 winning tickets.

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy Mega Millions or Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

They made these draw games so hard to get a couple of numbers it’s insane. I quit buying them on a regular basis. I hope they both go out of business. They certainly deserve it after going up on prices, increasing the odds, and the payouts barely increasing with these ridiculous odds.

I've always heard that sham national and state lotteries are a subsidized tax on the public. Governments allow their rigged implementation as societal stability starts to falter as a sense of false hope to the people. Increased taxes without proper representation and an increasing number of people relying on unwarranted government subsidies etc. to replace personal accountability makes for a failing system. The corruption builds until society can't bear the weight of the very system it has created over the money chase.
