Guilford County woman bags $179,646 Digital Instant jackpot

Jill Simpson of Browns Summit took a chance on a Digital Instant game and won a $179,646 jackpot.

Simpson played for $5 on May 7 and won the top level “Alakazam” jackpot in The Lamp: Dark Arts, a digital instant game featuring a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time. The odds of that win were 1 in 12.9 million.

She claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Simpson took home $129,365.

In The Lamp: Dark Arts, a player can play from 50 cents to $30. After Simpson won the jackpot, it restarted at $100,000 and stands at over $356,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.

Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Seventy-eight different games are available to play online now.

Wow! I went into a convenient store just yesterday, there are gambling machines in there in back. I went back there to get a look at them, as soon as I stepped back there, this guy had won 1600.00 dollars from it. I said wow, just a dollar a game. I know it's not in the hundreds of thousands, like y'all have,but 1600 dollars, I could of handle that right now! Just saying!

Congrats! @NCEL I see you all have returned the Winner Scroll on Digital Instant pages, however you still did not include the play amount. The reason being is in order to make the scroll you have to WIN over 100+ and I can't even get a WIN of $100 even playing for $5 plays and even on a $10 play I won $70 prize. So to be transparent that would be good to know what wager is being played to WIN these prizes. That is like saying I want to WIN a million dollars on a scratch off, but only playing $1 ticket...Never happen!
