Emily Morgan of Gastonia tried her luck on a $10 scratch-off and won a $1 million top prize.
She bought her lucky Jumbo Bucks ticket from Bre-ina's Food Mart on Chapel Grove Road in Gastonia.
When Morgan arrived Friday to claim her prize, she had a decision to make. She could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum of $600,000 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $432,063.
The Jumbo Bucks game debuted with eight top prizes of $1 million. Since Morgan won the last top prize, the lottery will begin the process of ending the game.
