A lucky North Carolinian is sitting on a $1 million prize-winning ticket after Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.
The winner bought the lucky $2 Powerball ticket from the Hop-In Citgo on North Road Street in Elizabeth City. The ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $1 million. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 11.6 million.
The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.
Wednesday’s drawing also produced three $50,000 prizes. The tickets were bought at the following locations:
- Park N Shop on Weeksville Road in Elizabeth City
- Harris Teeter on Davis Lake Parkway in Charlotte
- Happy Smoke on Neuse Boulevard in New Bern
Saturday’s Powerball jackpot sits at $20 million with a cash value at $8.7 million.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
Powerball is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
