Ronald Pippen Jr. of Elizabeth City got an identical response from both his wife and mother after he shared the news that he just won a $100,000 prize.
“I sent a pic to my wife and mom and they both sent back the exact same text which said, ‘What???,’” he laughed.
Pippen bought his lucky $2 Million Vault ticket from the Zoom In on South Hughes Boulevard in Elizabeth City.
“It’s hard to explain,” Pippen said when trying to describe his reaction. “It was exciting.”
He arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to claim his winnings and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $72,016.
“This is a nice bonus for us,” Pippen said.
He plans to use his winnings to pay some bills.
The $2 Million Vault game debuted in May 2025 with three top prizes of $2 million and six $100,000 prizes. One $2 million prize and one $100,000 prize remains to be claimed.
