Prabin Kurmi of Cary plans to celebrate after he took a chance on a Digital Instant game on Monday and won a $200,000 top prize.
“I’m going to have a party,” he said. Kurmi won his big prize on a $2 play in the 20 Years Celebration game. The odds of that win were 1 in 20 million.
Kurmi arrived at the lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $144,021.
This is not the first time Kurmi has claimed a big prize as he previously won over $22,000 playing Carolina Keno last year.
In addition to throwing a party, Kurmi plans to use his winnings to buy a Toyota.
Education programs in Wake County received $64 million in support from lottery funds last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
