Christine Brown of Concord was finishing up work on Friday when she took a chance on a $5 Fast Play ticket and won the $519,318 jackpot.
“It still hasn’t hit me yet,” laughed Brown.
Brown bought her Rockin’ Bingo ticket at The Mills BP on Holden Avenue Southwest in Concord on her way home. At the time of her purchase, the jackpot stood at 1.03 million. Because Brown bought a $5 ticket, she received half of the progressive jackpot.
After playing, she brought her ticket to the clerk to find out what she’d won. The clerk scanned her ticket and her face lit up.
“She said ‘You won the jackpot!’” Brown recalled.
Brown arrived at the lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim her prize. After state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $373,962.
She plans to use her winnings to pay bills, pay down her mortgage, and bring her children down to visit.
Fast Play features a progressive jackpot that currently sits at over $561,000. The odds of winning a Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 320,000.
