Ralph Mizelle of Williamston tried his luck on the $1,000,000 Taxes Paid scratch-off game and won the first $1.38 million top prize.
Mizelle bought his lucky $10 ticket at Jamesville Mini Mart on N.C. 64 in Jamesville. The odds of that win are 1 in 1.85 million.
He arrived at lottery headquarters on Monday to claim his prize. The state and federal tax withholdings were paid from the total prize so Mizelle went home with a $1 million win.
The $1,000,000 Taxes Paid scratch-off debuted this month with three $1.38 million prizes. Two remain to be claimed.
