Cash 5 tickets sold in Mecklenburg County split record-high $2.1 million jackpot

Monday’s Cash 5 drawing produced two winning tickets for players who purchased their tickets at Mecklenburg County convenience stores.

The two lucky winners split the $2.1 million jackpot, and will each receive a $1.05 million prize.

One winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K on University Boulevard in Charlotte.

The second winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K on John J Delaney Drive in Charlotte.

Both tickets matched the numbers on all five balls, 3-5-34-40-41. The record-high jackpot marked the first time a Cash 5 jackpot estimate reached over $2 million in the game’s history.

The winners have 180 days from the drawing to claim their prizes.

Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play on the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

I think both winners should get the top prize of $2.1million as advertised! And 2nd chance drawings should be held live and winners announced live at time of drawing instead of a week after drawing because they probably screen the winners with background checks and decide who they want to have the money. Hi James, normally Second Chance drawings are live and open to the public, but due to COVID restrictions they are closed to the public for the time being. We can assure you that there is no winner bias for our Second Chance drawings. A random number generator assigns each entry a random number and then picks one of the numbers. There are no names input into the RNG. It has no idea which players have entered.

See if everyone doesn't see what's going on here then you're blind to the fact. As of this point I'm done spending my hard working money on this. You can't make me believe this was random. Just like the KENO game when they brought out the multipler. Doing the first few weeks they wasn't paying out on the multipler if you didn't hit numbers on a single game when playing the multipler. For instance if you played 20 numbers and purchased the multipler and didn't hit any numbers you win #5 and it was supposed to be multiple and they wasn't doing it. I called up there and had a long talk with one of them. We went back and forwarded. The next day it was working. By my math they cheaped people out of millions of dollars over thise week's. I called left messages and emailed no one contacted me back about this matter.

I’m happy for the person or persons that won! I was close to winning the $428,000 on April 11. I had 4 out of the 5 numbers! Please do not make negative comments about who won or where the winning tickets were purchased. It may be the same person or it could be someone that the winning numbers were shared with by the 1st person. Be positive, have fun and put your good winning energy forward. Congrats to the winners, I looked at the winning numbers and yes #41 fell a lot but that's how it is. Oh well, maybe my numbers will fall one day and I too will win more than $1.00, $2.00 & 5.00 dollars. That's the amount I seem to win, no matter what or where I buy my tickets. I play the same numbers & quick pick maybe my favorite numbers are being tracked by cookies like everything else in the world. But again , congratulations on your wins.

Hi John, thanks for the question! After logging in to your online account, you can see which tickets you have purchased by going to "Transaction History" in the main menu. From here you can view "Upcoming Purchased Draws" or "Past Draws". If you are still having trouble seeing your tickets, the number for Online Play customer service is 866-934-0289. But I have one ? when the jackpot prize rise why do the smaller prizes still remain the same i think that's not fair 2# $1.00 3# $5.00 i think they should rise also: right along with the jackpot and also correct me if I'm wrong but I'm just saying.

Scott M., that makes no sense if that's what actually happened. They paid an extra dollar to win the same amount of money. There would not really be a benefit to buying two identical tickets until you get into a least a four-way split.

It's kind of amazing to look at the data, and find out the same patterns of recent numbers being drawn. I'm not saying the system is rigged but perhaps there could be a more transparent way of doing these drawings. I also had about 1200 lucky draw entries last month, and I just never hear about those after the drawing. It would be nice to split drawings with big jackpot size into small ones so that someone with 1200 lucky draw entries have a chance. That's a lot of entries by the way. Anyways like I said I don't think the system is corrupt because everyone who loses says the same thing. I'm just saying that it could be more transparent. People should be educated more to make wise choices for themselves. We all know who suffers the most from any kind of gambling activity. It's mostly people who live paycheck to paycheck.

Hi Tracy, the Cash 5 numbers are truly random and numbers from previous drawings have no bearing on numbers for subsequent drawings. The lottery has extensive security procedures in place to ensure the integrity of the drawings, including supervision of the daily drawings by an independent auditor. We understand that it can be frustrating when you don't win, but there is nothing we can do to influence the numbers. Good luck!

Probably the same person who purchased ticket at one Circle K then went to the other Circle K and bought the other. Sure it was a quick pick on the 1st ticket then the other ticket was the same winning numbers they chose themselves
