Results are in for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing

The results of Wednesday’s Powerball drawing are all in so winners can now claim their prizes.

We have a new jackpot amount for Saturday: $31 million as an annuity or $21.3 million cash. The results from Wednesday’s drawing are posted on our website here. And all lottery retailers and our claims centers can now pay out prizes won in the drawing.

Winners faced a long delay Thursday because one of the jurisdictions that provides the Powerball game needed more time to complete verification of its winners. Everyone offering the game must complete their processes before claims can be paid.

We regret you had to wait longer than usual.

Congrats all the winner! I hope I win soon. I get tired all the winner from other states that win the 2nd chance drawings I put my tickets all the time 3000 to 5000 entries but nothing every drawings I like I am wasting my time and money on something you can't never win on. What's up that. Live in a small town not a big city where all the winner's come from.

Does a retailer receive the bonus for selling a winning ticket IF it is not not turned in?NC Lottery
Hi John, great question! For draw games like Powerball, we pay the retailer incentive as soon as the location where the ticket was sold is identified. Even if the prize goes unclaimed, the retailer would receive the bonus. For scratch-offs the player has to claim their prize before the retailer can be paid the incentive because we do not know the location where winning scratch-offs are sold until the prize is claimed.

Hi NCEL are you going to honor the 973 that you listed as the winning number. Everyone doesn't watch the live draw so when they see the number listed on the website as a winning number they expect to receive their winnings. I didn't even see an apology for the error and inconvenience it may have caused. NCEL you must do better. NC Lottery

I thought it was really unusual that the Powerball result was listed as “pending”. Your explanation makes sense. I do have one suggestion: When someone wins the jackpot, it would be nice to know which state gets all of that income tax revenue!NC Lottery
