Powerball ticket sold in Wilmington worth $1 million expires soon

Powerball players in North Carolina, especially those around Wilmington, should double-check any tickets they have to see if they are the winner of an unclaimed $1 million prize.

The ticket was purchased in the Nov. 7 drawing, the same drawing where a California man won a world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot.

The $1 million ticket will expire on Sunday, May 7. It was sold at the Gas Center 5 at 3440 South College Road in Wilmington.

The ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls in the drawing to win the $1 million prize. The winning numbers for the drawing were:

10-33-41-47-56-10

The odds of matching five white balls in a Powerball drawing are 1 in 11.6 million.

To claim the prize, the ticket must be presented at lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 8. This deadline ends the 180-day period for winners to claim prizes from the Nov. 7 drawing. Players have one extra day to claim since the ticket expires on a Sunday and the lottery offices are closed on weekends.

To help find the winner, the Education Lottery is sharing news about the unclaimed prize with statewide media, posting alerts on the lottery’s website and social media channels, and working with the store to post a banner alerting customers at the store of the unclaimed $1 million prize.

So did this prize get claimed? I read the comment/response below and that 50% that you put back in prizes and future games should be on top of what you all had planned in the budget if someone had claimed the prize, because right now these tickets suck. I have been playing $1 to $30 tickets and have yet to WIN $100 on a ticket. If you all keep these same odds the lottery will fail soon and with the Casino coming to Danville you will see a drop off in sales. Have a great day!NC Lottery
Hi, Angela! This prize has not been claimed - the winner has until 5 PM today, 5/8, so fingers crossed they show up at headquarters before the deadline!

Hi, Ramakrishna! We contact the store and put signs up there and we try our best to reach the winner before the claim deadline. When a prize goes unclaimed, 50% of the prize goes into the NC education fund, and the other 50% is given back to players in the form of prizes for other games and promotions!

If I were blessed to win the lottery. I would help my wife and daughter with their new business. I would build a home for my family we are currently living in a 3 bedroom apartment with 9 people and 3 dogs. I would make a donation to the church. I would set monies aside for the grandbabies for college. I would be so thankful for any winnings.

Wow! I can't imagine losing a 1 million dollars ticket. I buy my tickets, bring home, clamp to side of refrigerator. Wait until morning, when I get up, fix my coffee and then get my tickets off refrigerator. Pull up the scanner on my phone, and scan them for winners and my points too. That's basically it,that's the way I do it. Hope they find it soon, because I hate to see it has to go back to the lottery. Good luck on finding it!

I wonder how many millions of dollars are going into the lottery from the taxpayers via the military in Fayetteville. There are like five military bases right there. Seems like there are tremendous amount of winners from Fayetteville. My guess is the military personnel or spending millions of dollars on the lottery

Hey LZ, the new Loteria ticket that just came out, I have an obvious winner that I was able to enter for points but when I scan for the win it says SCANNING ERROR. Wasn't there a problem like that before when new games came out? Looks like I have a $10 winner but I also matched the Bonus Card so what did I actually win? Will I be able to cash it in? NC Lottery
Hello Tim, yes have seen scanning issues with some of the newer tickets released. Couple simple fixes are the reboot, app upgrade, and cleaning the camera lens. Once those attempts have been completed and if you still are getting the error, then I would reach out to our support team to see if they can assist with the issue further. With your ticket there, if you matched the symbols horizontally or vertically then have the symbol on the same line with the bonus you could win a multiply by x2 or receive the bonus amount in addition to the original match.

If the ticket is not claimed - what happens to the $1M NC Lottery
Hi Adekunle, we try to do everything we can to minimize unclaimed prizes. We alert the media, hang up a banner in the store, and use our social channels to spread the word. We do see success from our efforts, but in the rare case when a big prize does go unclaimed, by law, half of unclaimed prize money goes to education—the good cause that the lottery serves. The other half is available to be used as prize money in other games and lottery promotions.

May 1St daytime drawing cash 4 a one, and a zero. April 30 night drawing a one and a zero. I am finishing my analysis on how many zeros of come up and the cash four drawing over the last 10 years. It’s in the thousands.

They didn’t think you would notice cash 4. 1640 on the last day of the month. 24 out of 30 drawings in the month of April had a one or zero. Most of them were zero. They are taking it to the cleaners and back. This has been going on for years. I’m in the process of running a computer program to see how many zeros of hit in the last 10 years on cash 4. Hi Donald, Just wanted to let you know. All the draw results are random, and the results in one drawing don't have any influence over what numbers will be drawn in the future. What looks like a "pattern" is really just randomness being random. The only thing we control is the integrity of the drawing, the winning numbers are the result of that random drawing.
