Durham woman wins first $200,000 top prize in new lottery game

Peggy Boone of Durham took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won the first $200,000 top prize in a new lottery game.

Boone bought her lucky Spicy Hot Riches ticket from the Harris Teeter on Horton Road in Durham.

She arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $143,501.

The Spicy Hot Riches game debuted this month with four $200,000 top prizes. Three $200,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
