Exciting news! North Carolina saw its first jackpot win in the new Fast Play games Wednesday night with a lucky $2 Lucky Clover ticket bought at a grocery store in Burlington.
The winner bought the ticket at the Harris Teeter on South Church Street and beat odds of 1 in 240,000. Lucky Clover is one of six new Fast Play games now on sale.
As a $2 ticket, it won 20 percent of the jackpot. At the time of the win, the Fast Play jackpot stood at $363,980, producing a prize of $72,796 for the lucky winner.
The winner can claim the jackpot at any lottery claim center and has 180 days to collect the prize.
The rolling jackpot is an exciting part of the new Fast Play games. It increases with every ticket sold until it is won. That’s why it’s called a progressive jackpot.
So, what happens when only part of a jackpot is won as on Wednesday? The jackpot amount falls by the percentage of the win and begins growing again.
As this is written on Thursday morning, the new Fast Play jackpot already had climbed back over $300,000.
When you play, you can win some or all of the jackpot. Your ticket tells you not only what the jackpot was when you bought your ticket, but how much of that jackpot you could win.
Here’s how the Fast Play jackpot works:
- A $2 Fast Play ticket would win 20 percent of the jackpot.
- A $5 Fast Play ticket would win half of the jackpot.
- A $10 Fast Play ticket would win all of the jackpot.
When a $10 ticket wins the full jackpot, the jackpot starts over at $20,000.
We look forward to meeting our first Fast Play jackpot winner! It will be the first of many jackpot wins from our new Fast Play games.
